Smash book Super Hero Challenge!

This week's challenge was set by Kage and was to create a page about what powers we would have if we were superheros. She had the added catch that we had to draw ourselves! Now, I am totally pants at drawing so this challenge really was just that, a challenge!

I had the Studio Calico skyscraper stamp that I thought would work and then when I found this page in the red Smash book it was perfect. My body was a Gorjuss stamp that I bought recently and I thought the boots were just perfect for a super hero! Plus she had long hair that I could blend in with mine on the photo. The cute shooting stars are from a Paperchase sticker set. The title is made with some lovely sparkly Thickers.

The two little monsters are my boys terrorizing the town! The Pow pops up to reveal my powers, which are:
  • flight
  • invisible forecefield
  • cloak of invisibility
  • ability to stop time
  • ability to be in two places at once!
All of which are useful powers for any Mum! I hope you like it and apologies for the terrible photos on my carpet. I really need to work on my presentation skills!

My bucket list!

Over on Smash*ing UK we are running weekly Smash book challenges which I have completed neglected to upload onto my blog! The first challenge was set by Louise Wilson and it was for us to create our Bucket List. I have to admit that I have never really had a bucket list and as I have no wild desires to jump out of a plane or swim with dolphins, this challenge kept me puzzling for a while (which is all good!). In the end I realised that most of the things that I would like to do involve travel in one way or another, so with that in mind I set to work. It so happened that DoCrafts had just bought out there All Aboard range which would be perfect for this project! The little suitcase was cut using my birthday toy, a Silhouette Cameo.

I'm  not sure that you can read the tags, but they say:
  • To meet one of my penpals - this map has button markers for some of my penpals against the countries they live in.
  • Places I want to visit: American road trip, Italy (again), Japan, Hawaii (yes, some of these tags may be in the wrong place but they weren't all on the map!)
  • Attend a Tim Holtz class.
There is one more tag that I need to add to that suitcase, and that is to be able to ride on the Orient Express. But having seen the prices, I think that might be a bit of a pipedream!

Anyway, I hope you like it, and please leave a comment to let me know you stopped by!

I'm back!

Since I started my SU blog this one has become dormant, but with my new smash obsession, I thought it might be good to breathe new life back into this one again. I'll still have my SU blog but this will be for all things non-SU. It looks like the design has gone walkabout so I kinda need to fix that!

In the meantime I wanted to share one of my first Smash pages with you.

I did this layout for a blog challenge over on facebook. We had to use buttons (which I used to tie shut the little bird card), bow (under the hydrangea, although it appears to have fallen off in the photo) and shimmer (I liberally spritzed with my lovely Tattered Angel mists). Despite all the pink, this page is actually dedicated to becoming a mum for the first time to my firstborn son, but as the page is more about me I figured I could get away with it!

A couple of close-ups for you! Typically, it wasn't until after I took the photo of the first page that I noticed the cotton bow had come off! The hydrangea also has really tiny pearls on it.
I've also circled the date that my son was born on the little calender at the bottom of the page.

new stamps & blog candy

Our neighbour's girl is having a birthday party on Sunday that I need to make a card for, so I ordered the Anya ballerina and mermaid yesterday and they've arrived already! Now I just need to stop time for a while so I can get caught up and creating! I'm hoping she'll like the ballerina as she's just started dance classes.

Anyway, blog candy is always fun, and Sarah-Jane is giving away some lovely candy over on her site, so go and take a peak if you can. She also has an ace milk carton tutorial on there, which is nice and simple to make and looks so effective.

TGF CHA relay day 3

Well here is my entry for what turned out to be the final day of the CHA relay. It was a whole lot of fun, but also sounded like it was a huge logistical nightmare for everyone at TGF with the gallery collapsing under the weight of people eager to post their pics! Anyway, I've had a great time but I'm also slightly relieved as I really should be busy preparing cards for next week, but anyway, I hope you like my final entry using Toby Cub. I don't normally go for critters and wasn't wowed with Toby but now he/she's coloured up I love him and can see me making this card again!
I've grabbed Prince Ian whilst he's free on the board and hope to make a card up with him next week.
Colours: Copics
Paper: Fancy Pants Celebrate & Abbey Road by My Minds Eye

I'll come back later with the final details but Davina is about to go into the house and despite not normally being a BB fan, I seem to have got sucked in this time!

The Greeting Farm digi challenge Day 2

Hurray, hurray! It may have taken me an hour and a half to get the photo to load up but I've finally done it with minutes to spare! I've picked up the image just after work, attempted to start my dad's computer - mouse not working, that's ok will use mum's computer ... why won't it recognise my camera to upload the photo?! Will keep slogging away in the hope I'll figure it out before midnight arrives!

Notice anything unusual about the card?! The card should be showcasing the new Charlotte digi stamp but alas she's not been sent to me and the deadline is 12pm UK time. As I'm working till 10pm tonight I decided the only way I've got any chance of getting this one done is if I make the card up now and hope that Charlotte is waiting in my in-tray when I come back from work. But then I'm at my parents' and not at home so I'll need to attempt to upload the picture onto my Dad's computer! Fingers crossed that it all works out!
I also have to give thanks to Erin whose blog pointed me in the direction of the ESS challenge sketch.

Challenge: Anyone for Anya heart 4 heart's sake challenge

Cardstock: Bazzil Bling

Paper: Love Elsie music range (I forget the exact name)

The Greeting Farm CHA relay

This has to be the quickest card that I've ever made (and it probably shows!). I just found out about the relay two hours before it closed! The challenge is to make a card with the free digital image of the cute MerIan and to upload it before midnight tonight UK time. Then there will be a new digital image and challenge each day whilst CHA is on. I very much doubt I'll be able to get them all done but I'll do my best! Typically, in my rush I failed to notice the pink ink splodge on my desk so I need to re-do Ian tomorrow, at which point I'll cover his tail in glaze and stickles! The card is based on this week's Friday Sketchers.
